These are the 9 frames I shot before and after the Oracle AC45 crashed into the America's Cup World Series Mark boat in Newport, RI. I was in the process of going from vertical to horizontal shooting and managed to get off one usable shot before I got a bit disrupted, to say the least. This happened in the very beginning of the first fleet race of the day. As you can see in the 5 and 6th photos of the series the Dagger Board is what made the initial contact and I believe broke the transom then one of the shrouds got caught on the anchor and snapped. The anchor won that battle and knocked Russell Coutts and his team out of the race for the day.
